Michael O'Connell

Michael O’Connell has been a cornerstone of officiating at Sunbury Basketball since 1997.

A Life Member of both the Sunbury Basketball and Basketball Victoria Technical Officials Commissions, Michael has served as a Referee Coach across elite competitions including VJBL and the BigV, evaluating more than 600 games.

​

As the SBA Technical Advisor since 2008, and the namesake of the SBA “Most Improved Referee Award”, Michael’s contribution to officiating development at Sunbury is profound and enduring.

· Michael won the SBA’s “Pat Crowe Award – Most Consistent Referee” in 1999

· Michael won the SBA’s “Simmone Collins Award – Referee Achievement Award” in 2016.
