In 1987 this team won the Under 12 Country Victoria Club Championship and the Under 12 Victorian Metropolitan A Grade Championship and were the true Victorian Under 12 State Champions.

In 1988 the team won the Country Victoria A Grade Club Championship (held in Ballarat) and won the Victorian Metropolitan Championship held at the old Albert Park Basketball Stadium. Our research suggest that this was the first team ever to win both Under 14 State titles in the same year and became the true Victorian Under 14 State Champions.

The team was Head Coached by Doug Trahair and Team Managed by Terry Ryan, with Assistant Coaches throughout the period being; John Stone, Rick Hodges Snr, Tim Lambeth and Tony Marganti. The team featured a talented and dedicated playing group of local players whose success remains a benchmark for junior excellence at Sunbury Basketball.

The 1988 Under 14 Sunbury Jets Boys team achieved one of the greatest accomplishments in Association history, attending the National Club Champions in Canberra representing not just the SBA, but Victoria Country, and finished 4th.

Our Sunbury Jets were one of three Victorian associations to qualify for the nationals with Eltham and Melbourne the other two. Pooled into Group D, with Devonport (Tasmania), Northern Territory and Sutherland (NSW), the tournament’s results were;

· Day 1 – v Devonport – WON

· Day 2 – v Northern Territory – WON

· Day 2 – v Sutherland (NSW) – WON

· Day 3 – v North Adelaide – WON

· Day 3 – v Wanneroo (WA) – WON

· Day 4 – v West Adelaide – LOST

· Day 4 – v Melbourne – LOST

· Day 5 – v West Adelaide – LOST (Bronze Medal Game)
