Sallee's Bio

Sallee Cook began her junior and senior representative basketball career across several clubs before finding her home with the Sunbury Jets in 2005. Over the next decade, she became a key part of the women’s program, finishing her playing career in 2015 after ten years in Sunbury Jets colours.

Across her career, Sallee played 289 BigV Championship games, including 172 with Sunbury. She led the team in scoring in 2007, averaging 10.4 points per game, and topped the rebounding charts across multiple seasons. Her impact was recognised with league All Star 5 Forward honours in 2006 and 2009, along with team Players’ Choice Awards in both 2014 and 2015. She was also a proud, key member of the 2009 team that made the grand final for the first time in Sunbury Jets women’s history.

During her time at Sunbury, Sallee also played on the Sunbury Jets midweek Melbourne Metropolitan Basketball League (MMBL) side that played many years and made multiple grand finals appearances and championships. This was a great space for Sallee to mentor up and coming junior Sunbury Jets players.

Captaining the Big V team for several years, Sallee was known for her loyalty, consistency and determination. She never backed down from a challenge, always gave everything for her team, and led with her heart. Her team-first approach and willingness to stand up for her teammates earned deep respect across the women’s program — leaving a legacy defined by leadership, resilience and genuine care for those around her.
