The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is a significant and exciting milestone for both the Sunbury Basketball Association and Sunbury All Abilities Basketball.

SAAB has made an invaluable contribution to inclusive basketball in Sunbury, providing people of all abilities with the opportunity to participate, develop their skills and experience the enjoyment and sense of belonging that basketball can provide.

This agreement formally aligns our two organisations for the first time and establishes a pathway for SAAB participants to be recognised as SBA members. The next step will be for SBA members to vote on the proposal at our upcoming Annual General Meeting.

Subject to that approval, the partnership will also bring SAAB members under the broader Basketball Victoria umbrella, allowing them to share in the benefits and opportunities that come from being part of Victoria’s basketball community.

At SBA, we want basketball to be a place where everyone feels welcomed, respected and valued. This partnership strengthens that commitment and recognises that our basketball community is at its best when everyone has the opportunity to belong and participate.

When asked about this, Katy Lacy SAAB President said "Sunbury All Abilities Basketball (SAAB) is excited to partner with Sunbury Basketball Association (SBA).

Together, we look forward to creating new opportunities, strengthening our basketball community and building a more inclusive future for players of all abilities.

We’re excited for what the future holds!"

This is a fantastic moment for SAAB, SBA and basketball across the Sunbury community. We are proud to take this step together and look forward to building a strong and enduring partnership.
