Double Gold for Jack and Dylan!
Our Big V Men’s players, Jack Innella and Dylan Cheyne proudly represented Australia at the 2025 Virtus World Championships held in Astana, Kazakhstan from June 12–24.
The Championships included two tournaments—3v3 and 5v5—in which Jack and Dylan won a gold medal in each.
In the 3x3 competition, the Australian team dominated, defeating France 21-6 in the final to secure the inaugural Championship title. Jack was also named in the World All-Star 3 and crowned Tournament MVP for his outstanding performance.
Moving onto the 5v5, the team continued their dominant run, taking down Portugal 114–85 in the gold medal game. Both Jack and Dylan were standouts throughout the week and were deservedly named in the All-Star 5.
Reflecting on his experience, Dylan said: "The past 2 weeks have been amazing, we have won 2 world championships here in Astana Kazakhstan and made history! It has been an amazing experience, and I am grateful for all the support I have received from back home.
The 3x3 tournament was a physical hard-fought battle, the Australian green team went undefeated to take Gold over France in the final and we came together in 5x5 beating Portugal in a second undefeated tournament I am also proud to have been selected in the all-star 5 for 5x5 competition."
Jack added: "'Being able to represent my country again has been an honour and a privilege. The experience was incredible and winning two world championships made it even better.
Competing in the 3v3 for the first time and bringing home the gold is something I’ll never forget and am extremely thankful for.
Thank you to our coaches and everyone else for making it so easy for us and thank you to all that helped us get to Kazakhstan."
If you see Jack or Dylan around Sunbury, make sure to congratulate them on this incredible achievement!
We are so proud of what you’ve accomplished on the world stage and can’t wait to see you back in action in our Big V squads.
